    Moving On

The appropriate length of the closure process depends on the length and intensity of the treatment.

We may end treatment after appropriate discussions with you and a closure process…

if any of the following conditions apply:

    • You have met your therapeutic goals.
    • When it becomes evident that you are not making progress toward meeting your therapeutic goals.
    •  You are in default of your financial responsibility.

From time to time, we will have discussions about how and when you’ll know therapy is ready to come to a close. We will not end the therapeutic relationship without first discussing and exploring the reasons and purpose for discontinuing services.

If therapy is discontinued for any reason or you request another therapist, we will provide you with a list of qualified psychotherapists to treat you. You may also choose someone on your own or from another referral source.

Should you fail to schedule an appointment for three consecutive weeks, unless other arrangements have been made in advance, for legal and ethical reasons, we must consider the professional relationship discontinued.

      Electronic Communications

We cannot ensure the confidentiality of any form of communication through electronic media, including text messages.

If you prefer to communicate via email or text messaging for issues regarding scheduling or cancellations, we will do so.

While we may try to return messages in a timely manner, we cannot guarantee immediate response and request that you do not use these methods of communication to discuss therapeutic content and/or request assistance for emergencies.

        SOCIAL MEDIA AND TELECOMMUNICATION:

Due to the importance of your confidentiality and the importance of minimizing dual relationships, we do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any of our personal social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).

We believe that adding clients as friends or contacts on these sites can compromise your confidentiality and our respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship.

However, we do encourage our clients and the general public to follow Cope Well Counseling on our business social media pages. If you have questions about this, please bring them up when we meet, and we can talk more about it.

          TELEPHONE ACCESSIBILITY:

If you need to contact us between sessions, please leave a message on your therapist’s voicemail. We are often not immediately available; however, we will attempt to return your call within 24 hours. Please note that Face-to-face sessions are highly preferable to phone sessions. However, in the event that you are out of town, sick or need additional support, phone sessions are available. If a true emergency situation arises, please call 911 or any local emergency room.

We are considered to be an out-of-network provider. APPOINTMENTS

All appointments are made by calling our number 833-426-7464.  We offer evening and Saturday appointments.   Please be advised that once you make an appointment, that specific block of time is set-aside for you.

We appreciate your sincere effort to keep your scheduled appointment.  While we understand that unforeseen, valid emergencies do occur, we ask that you call 24-hours prior to your scheduled appointment time if you need to cancel or re-schedule.

Cancellations and re-scheduled sessions will be subject to a full charge if not received at least 24 hours in advance. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you. This fee will need to be paid prior to us rendering any further service.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON YOUR FIRST VISIT

At Cope Well Counseling Associates, we always remember that helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for that one person.  Part of the helping process is taking that first step and we understand that this can be very daunting and scary.

What we offer to ease you into the process is a 30-minute complementary appointment that allows you to meet your therapist personally and to “get a feel” for whether you’ll make a good team. For therapy to be effective, you have to feel comfortable with your therapist and your therapist needs to know they have the expertise needed to assist you.

If we decide to work together, you will receive a packet of information and some forms to complete.  It is critically important that you complete ALL the forms entirely and thoroughly.

Some of them may seem quite lengthy such as the personal history form. But this significant form provides the therapist with greater insight as to what is important to you, what has happened in your past that may be contributing to or influencing you currently, and what your therapy goals are. Even some medical conditions may contribute to feelings of depression or anxiety. The therapist may refer you to your doctor for a health checkup to rule out medical factors.

Your length of service as a client depends on several factors such as attendance, presenting problem, and how hard you want to work.
